wow i'm already drooling over this amazing piece! looks exactly as i pictured it! One thought you might cosider would be the silver cuffs? it would make a great removable piece (like the fur on squall's jacket)
as for a name perhaps something like "masamune"? (the name of his sword)

Lovely work! How about something like "Zafiro?"

Is there any possibility of you guys attaching something to the coat's shoulders? Not the shoulderpads of course - I read the first Sephiroth info-release, and I know why that would be impossible. But, something to hook up the shoulder-pads TO?

It is awesome, but nothing says flat out mouth opened amazing like real leather. I bought the daywalker trench (amazing by the way) but if it wasn't in leather I would have passed.

Name Suggestions:

"The Meteor Trench"
"The JENOVA Trench"

Please tell me this will be available in a soft, breathable fabric like stretch twill. I know Sephiroth is all about the leather, but it's just not my style. I would definitely buy this coat if it were available in other fabrics.

How about naming it after Sephiroths song. One-Winged Angel.

hmm masamune just means 'great sword' in japanese, and isn't really a name of his sword more so a description, it was the name of a sword in crono trigger though so maybe a name more suited to the series like Jenova Trench would be appropriate.

also i noticed the length is not ankle, its kinda short which is great for dead on accuracy, but since u threw that out the window with the cuffs and the shoulder straps perhaps a longer version would be better, i mean for top dollar i would want something longer like the daywalker coat.

i dont know if its the size the product but the start the first buckle is a bit too high. sephiroth begins by his stomach. your coat seems like the buckles start mid chest. the quantity of the buckles is correct.

im hoping the length will be by the ankle which it doesnt seem in the coat shown.

oh yeah and the unbuckled portion should be like a V-shape design. not sure if customers will want an exposed chest coat though.

and the name should be called none other than " 1 winged angel".

Yes, this will definitely be my first AbbyShot purchase. It would be my second if some more Kingdom Hoodies were produced, hint hint.

As far as names go, maybe Jenova? Or One Wing? Or Advent?

actually the buckles start at the waist.

The collar is awesome accuracy wise, but because I won't have long white hair and shoulder pads obscuring them it might look a tad froofy, so perhaps a slightly shorter collar option?

black angel =D

Wow, incredible, i am definetly purchasing one of these as soon as its available. as for a name, i would like to see Jenova Trench, or Masamune Trench. Keep up the great work guys =)

It looks pretty good, but could still use some minor improvements, as for a name; how about the SOLDIER trench?

The collar should have longer ends to them. This video is a fight scene, which allows you to see the coat from many different angles. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/25130.html
As for the name, I vote One Winged Angel.

well, since the shoulderpads wont be implimented, as an option, i do hope that it comes in other fabrics such as twill, or the same as the malice trench.

unsure about the length, perhaps i'm soo used to sephiroth looking rather slender in figure. making it longer would possible look better, altho all my AS coats had to be trimmed 4 inches shorter most of the time, so maybe it doesnt matter.

i'm sure AS has alot of partners from other websites out there. maybe one of them can be recommended to specialize in making the pads for the coat.

obviously, the one wing reference is referring to sephiroth. but i think the pads is what makes it sephiroth. "jenova" would work, as in AC, the other "worms" had similiar garb, but no shoulder armor.

are there any pics of the back of this coat?

"The One Winged Angel Trench" Love that for a name

Since it is Seph's coat from Advent Children it should be something like "Advent Angel" coat. Having Advent somewhere in the title just seems a given.

I'd suggest, The "Geostigma" Trench =)

the collar is the best part, leave it its perfect, and it could double as Victor's coat from Underworld with that high collar so its 2 selling points. as for the V, that eliminates any possibility of using it for anything else, as u left the vash sleeve on, i'd leave the coat and just make it longer, adjustments for cosplay can be made by the customer in post. this is pretty sick w/ nothing else added, but maybe an ankle length cuz it looks to be the same length as the Mobile Avenue coat and thats not gonna work for anyone. knee trenches are no good for this kinda money.

Simply amazing coat... id like to think this would be my 1st abbeyshot purchase .... sadly i missed the cleric coat i kept wanting it but didnt have a decent wage at the time :(

But as has been said whats the odds on real leather ?? that would be so awesome.

Anonymous said...

agreed .. this coat really should be ankle length

I'm really glad you guys are still on this project and I love it so far. I only ask if you guys will have it available in other materials besides leather....a little pricey ^^;

I think it looks great right now, but I think the ankle length would be awesome. Keep up the great work, buying this coat once it's out! :D

definitely should be called "one winged angel". perhaps an inner vest (looking like armor maybe?) could solve the exposed chest problem.

and @ azrael, masamune was the name of a great japanese swordsmith. he made katanas and tantos from 1288-1328. "masamune" is also, in fact, the name of sephiroth's sword. know what you're talking about before you speak.

hmm... now that i think about it, "masamune trench" wouldn't be a bad name either.

Not to rain on a great parade... But I'm not too impressed. I'm sure there's plenty of work that went into it... but it's not the same kind of awe-inspiring as the Stampede Duster.

I guess in a way this would be a great coat for closet gamers working in high society. The proud few would double take on seeing the coat, the rest would just see a nice trench.

Ah well. Still say a Seifer trench would've been cooler... still waiting Abbyshot... don't fail me...

Looks lovely. As far as naming goes, my vote goes to the "One-Winged Angel" suggestion, as it sounds cool and sophisticated without being fanboyish.

I for one, like the coat design even though I'm not a huge FF fan and barely know who Sephiroth even is. However, as some others have pointed out, you should definitely have several versions, with added ankle/floor length (!!) and some material variations. Real leather is a must on that list, as that is what I'd get first personally, but you will probably find that cheaper solutions pay off as well.

Looking forward to seeing the final product, and possibly (quite likely if these comments are heeded) buying one.

Cheers,
V

so where is the order form???

AbbyShot said...

For anyone who's wondering, the order form for the new Jenova Trench is right here!

the only name that fits is the name which it is called "Infernos End" granted it is supposed to be in Japanese, but that is what they called it when it was on the drawing board at 'SQUARESOFT' back in the day. So maybe the Japanese version of that.

One-winged angel is cool, but how about "Heartless Angel"?

I loved the coat, it's very cool. Now, you need Sephiroth's sword ^^

Keep going!!

(one thing, don't lock to my blogger name XD)
