Edward Elric Coat Coming Soon!

A lot of you suggested it, now we deliver it: Edward Elric's coat from the anime series Full Metal Alchemist is now an official "Coming Soon" product from AbbyShot! If you were brave enough to do our awesome puzzle from yesterday's blog post then you already know that we've got an Official Coming Soon page on our AbbyShot site showing about 80% completion on this design.

But now we're going to put our blog to good use and ask you (the experts!) the most important question: how do you like our design? Is there anything we need to tweak or change? Do you have any awesome screenshots in your possession that will enlighten us to certain aspects of the design? Please let us know in the comments! One obvious missing piece of the design will be seen in the following shot:

We know, we know, we're missing the big alchemy symbol on the back of the coat! We're working on getting it screen-printed now, but if anyone has a large version of this design to show us it would definitely help to make sure everything is 100% right-on about this coat!

Secret URL Revealed... In Puzzle Form!

AbbyShot has a "top secret" product announcement coming tomorrow for a HOTLY requested Anime-inspired coat! Okay, so we've hinted about this one a bit. Well, maybe A LOT. For those cunning enough to crack our Da Vinci Code of clues in e-mails, newsletters, pictures, sky-writing, smoke signals, and carrier pigeon deliveries: you probably already know this.

If you're still not sure, however, we've got the be-all-and-end-all of clues before we make the official "Coming Soon" announcement tomorrow:

It's a JIGSAW PUZZLE!

So now you know the task at hand:

Step 1) Solve puzzle.
Step 2) Find secret URL.
Step 3) Be forever enlightened.

Just don't touch the "Auto Solve" button!

AbbyShot meets the Grindhouse!

This is quite possibly the coolest thing we've ever seen.

The above still is taken from a trailer for an exploitation film called Maiden of Death. The hero of the title is a rock singer who comes back from the dead to get revenge on her killers using a guitar that acts like both a gun AND a chainsaw (how sweet is that?). The best part of all is: this lady of vengeance is wearing AbbyShot's gothic Kingdom Hoodie!

The only problem is that the movie doesn't exist. Let me explain!

Early in January, director Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) made this announcement for aspiring filmmakers to submit their own "Grindhouse Trailer" to the South By Southwest Film Festival (SXSW). It is a contest in honour of the upcoming film Grindhouse that Rodriguez has made with Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill). Grindhouse pictures were low-budget but highly entertaining flicks that were "grinded out" back in the 70s normally featuring lots of over-the-top sex and violence, and Rodriguez and Tarantino's double-feature movie coming out in April will pay homage to this genre. Rodriguez will pick the best Grindhouse-styled trailer of those submitted to personally show it at the SXSW Film Festival in his hometown of Austin, Texas in March!

Obviously, the submissions soon poured in for this excellent contest! There's a great round-up of some of the best fake-trailers ever made found here at Ain't-It-Cool-News (with some interesting titles like Load-Bearing Stud or Too Dead to Die) but our money is on Maiden of Death for sure! And we're not saying that just because our hoodie is in it!

Everyone involved has done a beautiful job and we wish Maiden of Death the best of luck in the contest; you can check out the full trailer on YouTube right now. The only warning we have is that it's a violent ride, so keep that in mind!

It's Advertising Parody Time!
