The Wednesday Uplink - A Grey Area

>RUN DIRECTORY PROTOCOL: INSI.DIR 2.x

The one good thing about this time of year for a spy like me is that everyone at AbbyShot is extremely busy preparing and shipping orders. This allows me time to poke around in places I don't normally have access to, in order to try to figure out what is next on the production block for AbbyShot.

Unfortunately my camera got submersed into a vat of apples (don't ask) and is now on the blink so I wasn't able to get any shots of my findings, but hopefully I'll have it back and operational in a couple of weeks once it has totally dried out.

My sleuthing managed to find me opening a drawer which was filled with fabric samples in various shades of grey. Some were a lighter, platinum colour while others were a dark grey with a blue undertone. They came in a variety of weights and fabrics and now my next task is to find some other clues that will point me in the right direction in order to put the pieces together.

Keep those comments flowing on Facebook, on Twitter, and of course here on the Blog. I'll be waiting for your feedback...and if you can, let me know your theories as to what you think will be made from these grey fabric samples.

Yours,
Eon

Mad Max Fans on Film with Special Guest: AbbyShot Jacket!

It was a massive weekend for Mad Max fans as the Wasteland Weekend Event took over a section of the California desert. Described on their website as a "three-day post-apocalyptic party in the desert", this was the ultimate 2010 destination for fans of all things Mad Max. Oh, and did we mention that costumes were required to attend this event? I wonder if the AbbyShot Max Jacket made an appearance... ;)

The Associated Press visited the event and posted a 3-minute report on their YouTube account. Let's play "spot the AbbyShot", shall we?

Yes indeed, that's our friend Paul Miller in the AP video (starting about 1:30 in) sporting all of his AbbyShot Mad Max Gear: Jacket, Gloves, AND Badges! Folks familiar with the Mad Max fan community will also recognize Karol Bartoszynski, he is an active costumer and also the webmaster of fan site MadMaxCostumes.com.

And what can we say about those muscle cars?
(We want one... scratch that... we NEED one...)

Anyhow, speaking of muscle cars: Paul Miller just let us know about a cool project he's working on featuring a double-dose of Mad Max goodness! It's a fan film set just after the 1st "Mad Max", featuring both his pristine Mad Max replica car AND the AbbyShot Mad Max Gear!

Welcome to the world of "Mad Max Renegade"...

Paul tells us that he's hoping to have this 10-minute short film finished by January. We will certainly keep you posted on all the Mad Max Renegade news, it looks like it's going to be a blast!

Were you lucky enough to attend Wasteland Weekend? Leave us your opinions in the Comments!

Of course, if you need your own post-apocalyptic fix, look no further than our Mad Max Page!

AbbyShot Receives Innovation Award from Mount Pearl Chamber of Commerce

AbbyShot was honoured this week to receive the Mount Pearl Chamber of Commerce Innovation Award 2010. The award was presented at the Best in Business Awards Banquet 2010, and AbbyShot was thrilled to be acknowledged alongside other prominent businesses including Scotiabank and Collision Clinic.

The award was accepted on behalf of the AbbyShot team by Export Developer Mark Battcock, who was very pleased to accept this local award. "The vast majority of our business is done over the Internet to export markets," says Mr. Battcock, "so it is very special for us to still receive this recognition here at home in Mount Pearl." Mr. Battcock dedicated the award to both AbbyShot's loyal customers and to the company's close-knit team.

President Bonnie Cook echoed the importance of the entire team in her comments on the award, stating: "What a privilege it is for me to work with such creative minds. We're so honoured to receive this Innovation Award for our work and, at the same time, it motivates us and gets us thinking ahead to what's next!"

Thanks so much to the Mount Pearl Chamber of Commerce and to our customers and supporters. You've all made this award possible!

All the best,
The AbbyShot Team

The Wednesday Uplink - Hand-Outs

Welcome to another Wednesday, folks. And it's a lovely one. As regular readers will know: I love gloves. So when AbbyShot released six new glove designs last week... it's safe to assume I was pleased. You can see the six new glove pages on AbbyShot's Accessories listing.

They've also started a contest to tie into this product launch, appropriately titled "Name That Glove". This idea to name the gloves intrigues me of course, but I'm not sure if my participation in the contest would go over so well. What do you think? Anyhow, while scanning through the Blog Post about the contest, my jaw nearly dropped when I came upon a 7th glove style that hasn't been released yet. Have you seen Codename G7 yet?

Needless to say, I had to track down more photos. Here's what I managed to find...

Customer E-mails: October 2010 Edition

Over the past little while we've been receiving some great photos from customers who have put their region on the map! Quite literally in fact ;)

We're talking about none other than our Map Your 'Shot Page, and these two intrepid customers were the first in their respective regions to post a photo to our AbbyShot world map!

We'd like to showcase our first mapped photo from Australia (honestly, any Australians reading need to rectify this!). It's a young Max Rockatansky who is styling in his Max Jacket, looking exactly like the pose on the classic "Road Warrior" poster. It's conveniently in the background of the photo to prove it, take a look!

I was so impressed with the Mad Max jacket I bought the Vereen one as well!

Thanks for the awesome photo, you're sure to be the first of many mapped photos from the "Land Down Under"!

Next, we have a stylish Squall Leonhart who mapped the first photo from the province of Quebec in our native Canada. He's wearing the Squall Jacket of course, but, well... we'll let him tell it!

AbbyShot CON-test 2: The Winners!

The results are in. The votes have been tabulated. The AbbyShot CON-test 2 (The Sequel!) now has two lucky winners thanks to YOUR votes. As you may remember, this year's CON-test consisted of two brackets: One for cosplay with AbbyShot gear and one for home-made cosplay.

We added up the votes for the "AbbyShot Bracket" from here on the Blog and from the CON-test 2 Album on our Facebook Page and it was, as expected, a close race! All three of our contestants (Rob, Rudi, and Eric) did some amazing cosplay for their summer conventions.

But when it comes to winners (and Highlanders), well: There can be only one!

Without further ado, the winner of the CON-test 2: AbbyShot Bracket is...
(drumroll please)

Well, AbbyShot has managed to sneak something past me again. I have to give them credit, ever since I hit the scene they have been "upping their game" in terms of secrecy. Who knew that there was an entire photo album just WAITING to be found, full of Matrix-style photos of the hallowed and most revered "Lobby Trench" (based on Neo's coat from the 1st Matrix film, of course).

I certainly didn't know.

So AbbyShot one-upped me and posted a new photo album on their Facebook page full of exclusive Lobby Trench photos

Here's a sample of a photo I hadn't seen before...

The Legendary Tom Baker and the Tenth Doctor Unite!

AbbyShot feels truly honoured today to post the following story from our UK trip. Let's just say that it's always an amazing rush when we see one of our heroes wearing an AbbyShot coat!

This extraordinary picture of Doctor Who legend Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor, of course!) was kindly supplied by ScifiCollector.co.uk who hosted one of their regular signings at the end of September.

The Who Shop's Hidden Treasure

AbbyShot affiliate The Who Shop, located at 39-41 Barking Road in London UK, has within its walls not only our Tenth Doctor Coat and Martha Jones Jacket, but also a number of other very cool products related to Doctor Who. We're talking every imaginable toy, magazine, poster, stand-up cut-out, and even more from the world of the Doctor. But much like the TARDIS, The Who Shop is indeed "bigger on the inside"!

Inside the shop there is indeed a full-size TARDIS and of course AbbyShot owner Bonnie had to see what was inside. To all eyes in the store she promptly disappeared for a short while! In fact, Bonnie had gone through a door into the Who Shop's very own mini Doctor Who Museum.

As part of this hidden treasure trove you will find props and costumes belonging to various Doctor Who characters. Here is just a small teaser of what's inside the TARDIS...

I've been hearing rumblings that AbbyShot is about to start a contest based on their interesting new gloves.  My mind is already whirling around with all of the possibilities...Oh my...so many gloves in so many styles...

I managed to sneak past the AbbyBot long enough to find this photo. What do you think?

As always, I'll be waiting to read your feedback on Facebook, on Twitter, and (of course) below on the blog. It's always spectacular to hear that my message is getting out there...

Eon
