Yesterday, AbbyShot HQ was all fired up as a box arrived via courier. Everyone couldn't wait to get into it and like monkeys flocking to bananas they all gathered around. It was difficult to see much. Fortunately their illustrious leader was out of the building and so they did a Skype video call between them to show her the fine details of the coat. That was when I was able to  intercept a quick shot. What I came back with was this pocket. It is somewhat skewed in that the angle is too straight, but it is a clear shot and I'm good with that.

And who might this be? Certainly let me know what you think of this latest tease through all the usual channels: here in the Blog comments, on Twitter, or on the AbbyShot Facebook Page

Love The Gloves Part 7: Max Gloves

We chatted about gloves for road warrior ladies yesterday (The Vixen Gloves), so today we thought it was a perfect time to talk about the gloves from the original Road Warrior himself: Mad Max!

Mad Max Outfit, including AbbyShot Max Gloves
The Max Gloves have been a part of the AbbyShot catalogue since way back in 2006 when a line of Mad Max inspired products were released (including of course the Max Jacket and Max Badges), all based on the very first Mad Max film. Ever since then these black leather gloves have been a hit with Mad Max aficionados around the world - appearing everywhere from annual car shows to a post-apocalyptic party in the desert called the Road Warrior Weekend Event (where the awesome photo to the left was taken!).

Why so popular, you may ask? Because these are no ordinary gloves!

Mad Max was released theatrically in 1979 and was immediately hailed as a ground-breaking film because of its post-apocalyptic setting, its dark treatment of its themes, and of course... the awe-inspiring cars! Over 30 years later, it's still highly regarded by both film and car buffs. Which of course brought AbbyShot into the mix, as fans asked us: "Can you recreate Max Rockatansky's gear from Mad Max?"

Why yes we can :)

Mad Max Gloves from AbbyShotThe Max Gloves were an especially interesting addition to the AbbyShot catalogue because, at the time, AbbyShot was not offering ANY glove designs at all! But Mad Max fans were adamant: We absolutely had to offer these gloves alongside Max's leather jacket. And so it was because of Mad Max fans that AbbyShot's glove line was born!

So what makes the Max Gloves stand out?

The most obvious factor is the foam used on the gloves - there are strips sewn down the tops of all the fingers and down the back of the hand. It is definitely a distinctive look, though we're not sure what the post-apocalyptic functionality of this foam could be! Are there any Mad Max fans out there with insight or theories into this one?

As for the design of the glove itself, we have learned that the gloves worn by Mel Gibson and the other actors in Mad Max were actually a type of leather motocross glove that was readily available in Australia the 1970's. Of course this particular glove style faded over time so it 'looked like a job for AbbyShot' to bring these gloves back from the great beyond!

Need leather gloves that will help you survive in a post-apocalyptic world? Look no further than the AbbyShot Max Gloves, Road Warriors!

Love The Gloves Part 6: The Vixen Gloves

It's spring here in North America and already many of our motorcycle rider friends are wondering: "Is it time to take out my bike yet?" The snow is starting to melt and the birds are singing in the trees... so before long we'll be hearing the sweet revving of engines on the roads! Today's glove design is built for ladies who are becoming "road warriors" and taking to their bikes in growing numbers. Today we look at: The Vixen Gloves!

Ladies Leather Motorcycle Gloves - The Vixen Gloves from AbbyShot
These ladies' leather gloves are designed with motorcycle riding in mind: As you can see they include a lot of padding on both sides of the glove. There's almost a retro-futurism to the padding design as well. They would fit right in on the set of an '80s sci-fi movie (Blade Runner anyone?) as well as fitting in perfectly on a modern day motorcycle.

The Vixen Gloves were part of our recent "Name That Glove" Contest and we remember that one fan even remarked that the padding under the knuckles looks a bit like a stylized letter "E", so this fan's suggestion was to name the glove the "Eon's Mark" in honour of AbbyShot spy Eon. Which we found super-cool (and so did Eon, we're sure). Of course the name "Vixen Gloves" won the day since this name accurately conveys the strong yet feminine appeal of these gloves.

As fans may notice, AbbyShot does have more glove designs for men than for women on our Accessories Page... but our Design Team is always looking for new ideas for women out there! If you have a ladies' glove idea to share with us then please don't hesitate to share through our Suggestions Page!

In the meantime, what do you think of The Vixen Gloves? Are they going to keep you company on your next motorcycle ride? Hope the weather is nice where you are and we'll see you on the open road!

New Dante Coat Photos Emerge in Glorious Red!

It's that time, Dante fans.

It's the moment you've been waiting for since the new Dante Coat was announced by AbbyShot last month...

So of course we want to know: What do you think of this new pleather coat?

As you can (hopefully!) tell, the team has been working hard to perfect this coat in AbbyShot's high-end quality and Devil May Cry fans can rest assured - it's going to be worthy of Dante himself! All the information you need is on the Dante Coat Group Buy page, but we want to give our loyal readers a bit of extra insight so read on for some 'behind the scenes' details!

Customer E-mails: March 2011 Edition

So loyal Blog readers, the month of March is nearing a close and "Spring has sprung" for folks in the Northern Hemisphere. We're not quite done with winter weather (yet) here in Canada, but as AbbyShot fans know: It doesn't matter what the weather is like outside, it's ALWAYS the right time to wear an awesome coat! Our favourite heroes from sci-fi and fantasy can (and do) wear fantastic long coats and jackets any day of the year, and so do our customers! Now on to this month's batch of fantastic customer e-mails...

Our first email comes from Mike in the UK and he is following in the footsteps of The Doctor himself, sporting his very own Tenth Doctor's Coat. This popular Doctor Who coat is temporarily out of stock (but you can pre-order now to reserve yours!); Mike was lucky enough to get his Tenth Doctor's Coat around Christmas time before the previous stock sold out. Here's what he writes:

I’ve received my coat and there is so much to talk about, I hardly know where to start ;)

The materials used are perfect, giving the whole coat an overall feel of quality. The outer material of the coat is superior compared to many other coats and the blue, silky, interior lining is one of the things that makes this coat special. I thought the sleeves would be too short after I ordered the coat but as soon as I put the coat on I found the sleeves were just the right length.

I can safely say this coat keeps you warm but at the same time not too hot and the inner and outer pockets are more than big enough for storing everyday items like phones, keys, wallets etc. which makes the coat very practical. The orange highlights on the inner pockets top everything off and it's the icing on the cake!

To sum up, this coat shadows any other coat in existence! :)

Thanks again,
Michael Justin
United Kingdom

Thanks so much Justin, you're not only a great writer but also very wise in your choice of long coats ;)

Our next customer e-mail comes from an equally wise mother, Sandra in Scotland, who gave her son the gift of an AbbyShot Vereen Jacket this past Christmas! She is definitely up for "Mom of the Year" now ;)

Hi -
The parcel arrived in PLENTY of time for Christmas; it fits and my son LOVES it. Thank you.
I have attached a picture - it is Craig on a sunny but snowy Christmas morning in Scotland, and yes, feel free to use it.
-Sandra
Scotland

I think it's safe to say that Craig is very happy with his new leather jacket! A picture really does speak a thousand words :)

The Customer E-mails Blog Post is always our favourite post each month and it's all because of your feedback. So keep it coming! Email your AbbyShot product review and photos to "info[at]abbyshot.com" and you could be starring in a future Blog post!

Keep styling in those coats and jackets,

Yesterday, fans on the AbbyShot Facebook Page may have noticed that I made an unusual Tuesday appearance. I posted one of the black-and-white photos of the upcoming Dante Coat and asked the simple question: "So... who wants to see this coat in red?"

Let's just say that the response was very very good (I was just testing to see if you were awake, folks)

So you all deserve a treat today and I am not one to leave fans hanging. I have with me right now an exclusive photo of the AbbyShot Dante Coat in glorious red pleather. It's a full-length shot showing the entire coat from 2 interesting angles.  This is the colour photo you've been waiting for...

Oh, and did I mention it's in the form of a jigsaw puzzle?

http://www.jigidi.com/solve.php?id=6LYV98AY

It's only 100 pieces...
You can do this, friends!
Come now, I can't make things TOO easy on you ;)

The scuttlebutt around AbbyShot is that they'll have the official posting of the new Dante Coat photos tomorrow. But honestly, you don't want to wait that long! The puzzle is so worth it.

So, have you managed to solve it?

Be sure to let me know how much of a tease I am, through all the usual channels: here in the Blog comments, on Twitter, or on the AbbyShot Facebook Page

And of course, stay tuned for AbbyShot news tomorrow...

Love The Gloves Part 5: The Maverick Gloves

It's time to tackle our second pair of fingerless leather gloves, known by the fantastic (and fan-submitted) name of: The Maverick Gloves. This name is VERY important in understanding the awesome nature of these gloves, so we start with the important question: Where did this name come from?

Studded Fingerless Leather Gloves with a Gothic Twist, from AbbyShot Clothiers
An intrepid AbbyShot fan took one look at these gloves and thought: Final Fantasy 8! Sean C. named these gloves, stating that they "should be called the Maverick, based off of Zell's gloves from Final Fantasy VIII."

As soon as we read that comment, we instantly saw perfection. AbbyShot is, of course, a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series (with VIII being the inspiration for our Squall Jacket, after all!) and Zell Dincht is one of our favourite video game characters, full stop. He's loud, he's energetic, he's always ready for action (plus he's hilariously vocal about his love of hot dogs) - he's pretty much the opposite of the quiet and brooding protagonist, Squall Leonhart. Zell's fighting style is all about hand-to-hand combat so his fingerless gloves are his main weapon that the player gets to upgrade throughout the game. His first glove upgrade is called the Maverick - and hence an AbbyShot glove name is born!

Zell's Fingerless Gloves in Final Fantasy 8 VIIIThe Maverick Gloves, with their distinctive studded knuckles, definitely convey the energy and power of Zell Dincht, while also being great leather gloves on their own terms. The studs on the knuckles even give the gloves a little bit of a gothic edge, while of course the fingerless design gives the wearer full use of their fingers.

Dexterity is important! You never know when you might be called upon to fight in a hand-to-hand melee, defuse a bomb, or, well... send a quick text message! Fingerless gloves as texting gloves... nothing wrong with that! The AbbyShot Team is off to send a few text messages now (see the photo evidence below), so in the meantime, think about which fingerless glove design you like best and let us know!

Love The Gloves Part 4: The Associate Gloves

In today's edition of "Love the Gloves" we celebrate an unsung hero of the AbbyShot website. Known as the leather gloves that "go with everything", these adaptable black gloves are the perfect accessory to any piece in your wardrobe. They go perfectly with ANY AbbyShot garment: From looking elegant and classy with a Tenth Doctor's Coat to looking mysterious and sleek with a Kingdom Hoodie, the Associate Gloves are like the chameleons of the clothing world - able to fit in anywhere!

Black Leather Associate Gloves by AbbyShot Clothiers - With the Leather Squall Jacket(And hey, what are those fine-looking gloves that were used in the Squall Jacket photo shoot? ;)

Not only do the Associate Gloves look great in any circumstance, they're also very high quality. Made of smooth black leather with a soft interior lining, these gloves are made to keep your hands warm and well-protected but never uncomfortably so.

We could talk about gloves all day (honestly, we really could ;) but we thought that in this particular case, one of our customers summed up the appeal of the Associate Gloves quite perfectly:

The Associate Gloves came to my mailbox today, and was about to initiate mortal combat with the darn envelope because I couldn't find a knife to open it with fast enough!

The gloves feel so smooth to the touch, and they fit me nicely! It's going to get so much colder here in Norway, so I'm so relieved that I won't have to freeze my hands off in the mornings when I go to school!

I only wanted to let you know that these gloves make my day a bit less horrible (-10c in the mornings now, expecting it to drop to -30c in the next month :/ ), so thanks a lot :D!

Love,
Theo, Norway

Black Leather Associate Gloves by AbbyShot Clothiers - Glove Close-up
How great is that letter? We're so proud to make our customers rave about their new glove purchases! It's certainly not every day that folks write letters about leather gloves :)

Speaking of customers with rave reviews, when talking about the Associate Gloves we can't resist posting this hilarious video review from Veggo3 in Germany, who was SUPER pleased with his Kingdom Hoodie and Associate Gloves combo order (a great combo indeed!). If you haven't seen this video before it's WELL worth a look. Enjoy the YouTube funny below and we'll be back to chat about more glove goodness soon...

The Dante Coat Group Buy Continues!

Dante fans, we thank you for your patience and support so far as we prepare the new Dante Coat. We ask for your continued patience for just one more month to complete our important mission... to perfect this new design.

As you may already know, our original sample coat was not done in the final pleather colours (hence the black-and-white photos on our the current Group Buy Page), but unfortunately we had an unexpected delay in getting the correct red pleather. Of course, this then affected the timeline for our new sample coat and, more importantly, delayed us in being able to post photos of the Dante Coat in all its amazing red glory.

Because really... EVERYONE wants to see the Dante Coat in red! We completely understand. For this reason, we will be extending the Dante Coat Group Buy by one month exactly, until Sunday, April 17th. This way you'll have all the information in front of you in order to make an informed decision on this new coat. To the fine folks who have booked their Dante Coats already under the Group Buy - thanks so much for your faith in us. We truly appreciate it and we won't disappoint.

New photos of the Dante Coat in red should be posted to the Dante Group Buy page in about one week. Regular blog readers will know that AbbyShot spy Eon somehow grabbed a small photo of the red Dante coat in an uplink he posted yesterday (photo to the left). Eon does know what he's talking about sometimes and this is indeed a real photo, though the lighting is a little bit off. This photo is merely a taste of what's to come, so stay tuned for much more! You can even be added to our Dante Coat Mailing List if you want to be sent a quick email when there's news, just Contact Us to be added!

Remember that BLACK is also an option for this design, and you can certainly book your Group Buy pre-order in black if that's your preferred colour. Eon did also find a little photo of the Dante Coat in black leather (photo to the right). It goes beyond the look of the original character and will be an equally impressive coat!

As a final note, remember that booking your Dante Coat order through this initial Group Buy not only allows you to be among the first in the world to own this new AbbyShot Coat, but also gives you access to an exclusive never-before-seen design: The Dante Shooting Gloves! We loved the look of Dante's black leather gloves in Devil May Cry 4 so we thought it would make a perfect Group Buy bonus for fans. We'll create this new glove design if the Group Buy reaches 20 pre-orders by the new deadline of Sunday, April 17th. You're already a fifth of the way there, so keep spreading the word and keep your eye out for the soon-to-be-released colour photos! Again, if you'd like to be added to the Dante Coat Mailing List, please don't hesitate to Contact Us to let us know!

Thanks again for your support and we'll be sending more news your way soon!

AbbyShot HQ is buzzing again this week as they seem to be preparing an announcement about the highly anticipated new Dante Coat. The current Group Buy (for lovely, lovely shooting gloves) is meant to end tomorrow (March 17th, a.k.a. St. Patrick's Day, a.k.a. Guinness's favourite day of the year). I have a feeling, however, that this deadline may be extended slightly.

I, like many of you, have been anxiously awaiting photos of this coat in the red pleather that AbbyShot has chosen. Finding the delicate balance between wearability and screen-accuracy is always an interesting art form for the AbbyShot Design Team. I can't wait to see this coat in red...

No, literally: I CAN'T wait to see this coat in red.

That's why I moved heaven and earth to get my hands on some COLOUR photos today (and of course share them with you!).

These 2 snippets were intercepted through means I dare not even speak about (and the lighting conditions weren't 100% ideal for photography I must admit), but believe me it was worth it!

I know it's not too much to go on yet, but it's certainly something to talk about! I look forward to hearing your feedback through all the usual suspects: here in the Blog comments, on Twitter, or on the AbbyShot Facebook Page

As always, Eon is watching out for you. And I'll be watching out for Dante Coat news tomorrow, as should you...

Eon

Love The Gloves Part 3: The Gentry Gauntlets

It is one of AbbyShot's most popular glove designs (and one that has truly stood the test of time!). In today's edition of "Love The Gloves" we discuss the awe-inspiring Gentry Gauntlets. These are the leather gloves that the AbbyShot Design Team went back in time to create... okay, maybe not literally (though that would be fun!), our inspiration for these Gauntlet-style gloves comes straight from the medieval times.

The original gauntlets, as history buffs will know, were a very important part of a knight's armour on the medieval battlefield. Metal gauntlets would include a cuff extending past the wrist in order to provide extra protection for a knight's hand and lower arm. Hand-to-hand combat requires hands, one is very safe to assume! (Just ask the Black Knight from Monty Python's Holy Grail... ;)

Eventually firearms became the common weapon on the battlefield and gauntlets lost their strategic value. Despite this, gauntlets never did stop looking fantastic! Hundreds of years later, gauntlet-style gloves (with the extended cuff) are still being worn all over the world every day. Of course, the AbbyShot Gentry Gautlets are a shining example! The name of these leather gloves even pays tribute to the medieval roots of the design, as the word "Gentry" (pronounced "Jen-tree") denotes the high class of the Middle Ages.

So for those who want to add a touch of the medieval to their wardrobe, these gauntlets are the obvious choice. And like all AbbyShot products the quality is key so they can be worn everyday, while also being very versatile for cosplay purposes! In fact, just last week an amazing photo came through our Map Your 'Shot page from Norway, showing how the Gentry Gauntlets really set off this customer's unique cosplay costume (Thanks to Mogcaiz for the great photo!).

If you're already a proud owner of these leather gauntlet gloves then please don't hesitate to contact us with your review! We'd love to hear your thoughts on them. If you're not wearing the Gentry Gauntlets right now as you read this, then we just have one question: Why not? :)

Stay tuned later this week for another episode of "Love the Gloves"!

Love The Gloves Part 2: The Ocelot Gloves

It's Part 2 of our special Blog series devoted to gloves and this time we're focusing on a fingerless design that premiered in October 2010: The 'ready-to-rumble' leather Ocelot Gloves!

First of all, fingerless leather gloves are indeed a new addition to the AbbyShot product line but they fit in perfectly with the rest of our clothing. Fingerless gloves show that the wearer has a clear edge to their fashion sense and a desire to stand out from the norm, which ties perfectly in with all AbbyShot clothing. But it's not just rebels and rockers who can wear this style of glove: Fingerless leather gloves are designed to protect your hand while still giving you full dexterity in your fingers, making them the choice of everyone from outdoorsmen to bikers.

It's really the best of both worlds: The goodness of wearing gloves while still having full use of your fingers. The Ocelot Gloves are a vented variety - designed to cool down your hands quickly when you're keeping active.

So where did the name Ocelot come from for these gloves? As you may remember, we held a contest to name these gloves last Fall and the winning contestant tied the gloves in perfectly with another AbbyShot coat! Here's what he said:

"I gave a suggestion a while back that you make the gloves that Liquid Ocelot wore in the game Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

These gloves are strikingly similar to what he wears, so my [suggestion would be the] "Ocelot Gloves".

Liquid Ocelot is a villain from the Metal Gear Solid series who actually has his mind possessed by original baddie Liquid Snake. Liquid Snake, as you may know, is the inspiration for the AbbyShot Foxhound Coat, so indeed this glove name does tie it all together!

The Ocelot Gloves are a versatile Accessory for any AbbyShot long coat (especially if you're an aspiring member of the FOXHOUND Group!). Stay tuned to this frequency for the next edition of "Love the Gloves".

There may well be a few crystal balls in the hands of my dear readers. With further investigation it seems as if some of you are spot on with your comments. And entertaining to boot, did I mention you folks have a way with words? Here are some of my favourite comments on last week's Uplink...

2 Vests, 1 Blazer, 1 Jacket...Every one of em looks like they are infused with a dangerously lethal amount of awesome.

If they make clouds vest and also have an option for the shoulder pad, it would be the embodiment of WIN. I would definitely buy Cloud's vest, gotta look good when doing missions for avalanche XD

Choice one because it has the flexibility of being professional and casual. Plus I love final fantasy 7 advent children.

I'm guessing aside from the shinRa uniform, Cloud's vest, dead rising 2's leather... That four is Spider-Man Noir's costume. Verra nice indeed.

Fantastic feedback. Thanks to everyone who commented here on the Blog, on Twitter, on Facebook, and through emails. I keep an eye on it all, so please let you voice be heard!

Now, how do we let those at AbbyShot HQ know what we would like to see come to the market? Two vests, two jackets, all amazing designs. Do you make your decisions based primarily on the style of the garment, the character, the fabric, the colour, the price or something else altogether? There are so many elements that HQ needs to take into consideration and this is our opportunity to guide them.

If you can take a (little) bit of time to give your input here on the Blog comments, on Twitter, or on the AbbyShot Facebook Page, then maybe we can further guide the process.

Another option is to submit your comments to HQ through their Suggestions Page. And tell them Eon sent you... again. That should really rile them up!

I can't wait to see them hard at work over the next week. I wonder what I will have to report to you next? Keep your ear to the ground friends, and do get your message out there!

Eon

Love The Gloves Part 1: Ladies' Stealth Gloves

Winter is still lingering here in North America so this month is a great time to shine the spotlight on the many AbbyShot gloves that are just begging to keep your hands warm ;)

Today is International Women's Day so we would be remiss if we didn't chat about a glove designed especially for women. Today we're focusing on the Ladies' Stealth Gloves!

These are beautifully-fitted gloves for women that are unique not only for their look but also for what they're made of: they combine black leather (across the palm up to the fingertips for a good grip), while the back of the glove is made from neoprene. What's neoprene you say? It's a synthetic fabric that is used in everything from laptop sleeves to scuba-diving dry suits and it is known for its insulating properties.

Translation: Neoprene will keep your hands toasty warm!

There's even a very nice leather accent over the neoprene (some have called it a "swept wing" pattern; wording we absolutely love) and this leather accent truly sets off any black leather garment you may wear with these gloves (like, say, a GIG Shrug perchance?).

Gorgeous and versatile with bonus points for warmth, the Ladies Stealth Gloves might just be the right gloves for you!

Are you already the lucky owner of a pair of these gloves? We would love to hear your feedback!

We'll be back soon with another AbbyShot Glove...

Does anyone have a crystal ball handy? While the AbbyShot team may have their current Product Development locked down, I managed to get a hold of some future possibilities that may very well intrigue you. I only managed to find four small snippets though, so they're not all immediately clear to me. What do you make of these four mystery photos?

The two main questions to ask yourself are of course: Where did these four mystery photos come from? And which one(s) would you most like to WEAR? (I know black is always my style, but I'd love to hear from you!)

Which of these photos jumps out at you? Theories always welcome in the Blog comments, on Twitter, or on the AbbyShot Facebook Page

If you would like to wear one of these (carefully labeled by yours truly as either 1., 2., 3., or 4) then be sure to bug AbbyShot through their Suggestions Page. And tell them Eon sent you!

Crystal ball or no crystal ball: You know what to do, friends.

Alright, we like the sound of that! ;)

This list is in the March 2011 issue of Curve, the best-selling lesbian magazine in the United States, so it was an honour to be recognized along with nine other great geek-inspired fashions!

Our entry in the list is prefaced with the Japanese-inspired title of "Harajuku Girl" and they go on to say:

"We'd gladly shell out the cash for AbbyShot's GIG Shrug, inspired by the hit anime series Ghost in the Shell."

Other entries in the list included a wild 3D Gotham City ring and two sci-fi inspired swimsuits called "Artoo and Threepio" that need to be seen to be believed!

Do you (or your special someone) have your own piece of anime-inspired fashion yet?
